PENTLAND HILLS VOLUNTARY RANGER SERVICE

The Voluntary Ranger Service has operated in the Pentland Hills Regional Park since 1997 and continues to make an excellent contribution to the work of the Regional Park.

Voluntary Rangers are individuals from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. They receive intensive training and to enable them to assist in the delivery of park services.
Other opportunities for volunteer and community groups to participate are also available, visit the Schools and Groups page or Contact Us.

The Pentland Hills Voluntary Ranger Service aims to: Enhance the work of the Regional Park in caring for the hills, Communicate the work of the PHRP and encourage people to think positively and act responsibly toward the Pentland Hills and help people understand and enjoy the hills in safety.

Recruitment takes place annually or as places become available.

An intensive training course and probationary period ensures volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to patrol the hills and advise visitors.
