How to Get There

PARK LIFE

The Pentland Hills Regional Park although on the surface, may appear a haven of peace and quiet, behind the scenes it is buzzing with life. Over 300 people live within the Park and there are 20 farms, 9 reservoirs, 3 pubs, 4 golf courses, several holiday cottages, 4 stables, a live firing range, hundreds of cattle countless sheep, 600, 000 visitors annually and definitely a partridge - although we have no records of any pear trees in the park!
It’s a busy place!

It is this living, working landscape that is the very place many come to seek solace. Despite the apparent hub-bub of activity, many who both visit and work in the Pentlands can spend a day in the hills and meet nor speak to anyone!! Friends of the Pentlands a new society formed to care and protect the Pentland Hills, can testify to that. Check out their website: Friends of Pentlands

To find out more about what businesses operate in the park check out our business section and our Pentland Hills Producers page.

The Regional Park's management is based on a partnership agreement between the three local authorities whose areas form the boundary of the designated area.
Other partners Scottish Water and Scottish Natural Heritage are represented on our Joint Committee. Find out more about the organisations who operate and fund the Regional Park.
