Orienteering
Many who visit the Pentland Hills Regional Park
will have noticed the numerous red and white markers dotted around
Bonaly and Hillend.
These are the clues that orienteers
are around and may very well be seeking these sometime elusive
markers out!
Orienteering involves a race against
the clock using maps and navigational skills to find your way around
a selected course, made up of those red and white markers. Sounds complicated
but can be as simple as a family treasure hunt or as advanced as an
Olympic sport.

Hill Running
If walking the hills is somewhat passé and mountain biking too
removed, then running the length and height of the hills may be what
you are looking for! You will discover that many others have enjoyed
this pursuit before you as the Pentlands are a popular and well used
hill running venue. Many regular runners can be seen dotted along the
hills ridges.
Competitions take place in the park too. The Pentland Skyline Race in
particular organised by Carnethy Hill Running Club is a successful and
popular event.
