During
1999 - 2000 The Pentland Hills Regional Park undertook a consultation
exercise to determine its new strategy. One proposal which the
Park adopted into its integrated Management Strategy, was "to
establish an independent friends group". This coupled
with our intention to encourage wider participation by the public
led us on path to create the Friends of the Pentlands. The Park
believed from the outset that any such group should operate independantly
of the Park and take in a wider interest outwith the Park boundary.
The rest, as they say is history, and their success story can be read in the Friends of the Pentlands website. The
