Parental Involvement Act

The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act came into force in June 2006.

Consultative Committee

In line with the City of Edinburgh's commitment to forging close partnerships with parents, an Education Consultative Committee with Parents (CCWP) was formed in 1996.

Draft strategy

The Children and Families department has produced a draft Parental Involvement Strategy. We're now asking for your comments on this draft strategy, looking to improve the involvement of parents in their children's learning.

Newsletter

The Parental Involvement Unit in Edinburgh produce a series of newsletters.

These newsletters will be issued to Chairs of Parent Councils and it is for Councils to then communicate items they feel are appropriate, to the wider Parent Forum. Copies of all newsletters will also be made available here.

Recruitment and Selection training

Recruitment and Selection Courses are being held during October, November and December 2008. These courses will enable Parent Council members to participate in the recruitment of promoted teachers.
