New Portobello High School consultation

A four month consultation with Portobello residents on the new high school kicks of this week, with a meeting for key stakeholders on Monday 10 May in the local primary school.

Those attending the meeting will be asked to discuss how the consultation should be taken forward into the summer with the aim of lodging a full planning application in the autumn.

The new school is a £41.5m investment for the local community and will include a number of sports and other community facilities. It is important that the views of as many groups and local people as possible are heard before moving on to a formal planning application.

This June, will see a number of public events held in and around the local area, including exhibitions in Portobello and Piershill Libraries, drop-in events in the local town hall and primary schools. Workshop events are also being planned to look at particular areas of interest.

There will also be the opportunity for the public to find out more about the consultation and meet the architects at a neighbourhood partnership event in Towerbank Primary School on Wednesday 18 May from 6.30pm.
