Lord Provost reports from Royal Wedding

Edinburgh's Lord Provost, George Grubb, recounts what it was like to be among the guests at Westminster Abbey for the Royal Wedding.

The Rt Hon George Grubb, Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, said: "The wedding was fantastic. I was sitting close to the West Door, so we had a great view of everyone coming into the Abbey. I ended up finding a seat beside John Letford, Lord Lieutenant of Dundee, whom I know. He told me that before I arrived, Elton John had been sitting there! The ushers had moved him into the front row.

"We were all able to watch the proceedings, from both inside the Abbey and out, on monitors. The atmosphere among the congregation was absolutely terrific.

"It was a lovely service, and just right for William and Kate - they seem a very nice, relaxed couple and I hope they will have a long and happy life together."
