Four days of St Andrew's Day events in St Andrew Square
Edinburgh's St Andrew's Day celebrations get under way in St Andrew Square tomorrow offering four days of live, interactive entertainment and culminating in a Grand Ceilidh on the big day itself.
Music, poetry, workshops and dancing will be the order of the day, with lots of opportunities for people to get into the carnival spirit and take part.
Enjoy a series of free, family-based activities - everything from facepainting and storytelling to mask-making and street dance - all rounded off with a good foot-stomping ceilidh on Tuesday 30 November.
Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh, said: "St Andrew's Day is a chance for Scots everywhere around the world to commemorate our patron saint with music, poetry, dance and song. Where better to mark this annual national event than the eponymous St Andrew Square, in the heart of Scotland's Capital? There's heaps going on for all the family to enjoy and with a four-day programme of exciting free events, residents and visitors have plenty of opportunities to get into the carnival spirit.
"We've also just launched Edinburgh's Christmas 2010, with last night's jaw-dropping aerial acrobatics and excellent fireworks display. St Andrew Square is playing a key role in these celebrations too - don't miss the Nativity Carol Concert at 4pm on Sunday 28 November."
