Easter opening times for Council facilities

Council offices may be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, but there will still be plenty to do for locals and visitors.

Free parking in public bays and on single yellow lines will apply on Easter Monday only - drivers should be aware that the usual restrictions will be enforced on all other days.

Museums and galleries will be open as normal throughout the weekend, while libraries will close on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Waste and recycling bin pick-ups will operate as normal, while recycling centres will stick to normal opening hours.

A photography competition is being launched this Easter by Edinburgh Outdoors, which gives amateur photographers the chance to show off the beauty of the city's parks - pictures can be emailed to the website until 14 April for the chance to win unique prizes.

There is plenty going on for children too, thanks to a range of special activities. Councillor Richard Lewis, Culture and Leisure Convener, said: "Between the Council and our partners, we can offer children of all ages and interests a wealth of exciting and rewarding activities, many of which are free."

Edinburgh Leisure are also running various schemes during the Easter break.
