Lothian and Borders Police Board

Lothian and Borders Police Board is the police authority for the South East of Scotland. The Police Board is made up of 18 Councillors drawn from across the Lothian and Borders area.

Its main responsibilities are to:

  • work with the Chief Constable and hold him/her to account for the policing of the area
  • set the budget for the force and provide the Chief Constable with resources
  • appoint officers of the rank of Assistant Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and Chief Constable
  • ensure best value is secured.
