Working Together (Youth Strategy)

The aim of Working Together is to keep children and young people with their families, in their local school and in their local community.

Achieving this goal will mean a reduction in the number of children:

  • being looked after by the council
  • being excluded from school
  • truanting from school
  • having to attend residential schools or non-residential special schools.

Working together in partnership

The development of Youth Strategy policies has emphasised the importance of supporting children and young people through a multi-agency partnership approach. This has been developed for secondary aged pupils through the Pupil Support Group (PSG) process and through the development of support services such as Panmure House.

These services have principally focused on the partnership between the Children and Families and Health & Social Care Departments. Working Together provides opportunities to develop further these already strong links and to develop new relationships with a range of voluntary and community organisations.
