ClubSportEdinburgh

ClubSportEdinburgh is a new organisation recently established to represent the voice of amateur sports clubs in the City. The Forum is being set up to replace the previous Edinburgh District Sports Council which has been dormant for some time, and will be open to all Edinburgh-based sports clubs.

All the city sports clubs on the Council’s database were invited to a public meeting at Meggetland on 16th May 2007, and over forty clubs were represented on the day. From that meeting an Executive Committee has been formed under the Chair of  Edinburgh Wolves American Football Club General Manager, Douglas Adamson.

ClubSportEdinburgh will form an important communication link between sports clubs, the City of Edinburgh Council, and Edinburgh Leisure.  Other roles may include the distribution of grants, sharing best practice, club accreditation schemes, and driving publicity for club events and initiatives through the city’s FutureSport events programme.  The new body will also offer advice on issues such as child protection, club and coach development, funding opportunities, and the recruitment of volunteers.

A web site has already been set up at www.clubsportedinburgh.org and this will play a key role in sharing information throughout the Edinburgh sporting community.

Clubs who wish more information on ClubSportEdinburgh or require any other advice on club development should contact the Council’s Club Development Officer on 0131 529 7860 or email c.mackay@edinburgh.gov.uk
