Floral Clock, Princes Street GardensThe Floral Clock in Princes Street Gardens is one of the best loved visitor attractions in the city. Edinburgh in Bloom competitionEdinburgh in Bloom is the annual garden competition for Edinburgh’s residents, community group and businesses. Find out more about Edinburgh in Bloom. Inch NurseryThe Inch Nursery is the Council’s working nursery and training centre. Services include the production of the city’s plants for floral displays; provision of floral decorations inside and outside Council buildings; special displays for events and civic functions and a hands on training scheme in joint operation with the Enable and Capital Skills projects. Find out more about the Inch Nursery. Plant salesTwice a year the Inch Nursery holds plant sales, where members of the public can purchase a range of seasonal plants. Schools daffodil competitionTo help encourage young people to get involved with gardening the Parks and Greenspace Service joins forces with the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society to run a daffodil competition for local schools. 15 green-fingered schools take part in this annual competition, with each school receiving 200 bulbs, compost and pots. Volunteers from the society help pupils plant and tend the bulbs. The schools display their bulbs at the Spring Flower Show held at the end of March in the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh.
