Welcome to Central Library.

We’ve been providing access to the world’s knowledge for over a hundred years and have a huge range of resources to meet your leisure, information and learning needs. 
You’ll find us close to the Royal Mile in the heart of the Old Town World Heritage Site and the first UNESCO City of Literature.

Change to crèche facility

Due to the refurbishment of the library, the crèche which currently runs out of the Board Room on Tuesday mornings will no longer be in operation as from 18^th August. Our long-term aim is for the library to offer extended activities for all ages of children including pre-nursery and school age and we hope to reinstate the crèche in 2010.
