Library services for disabled peopleAccess to premisesAlmost all libraries are accessible by wheelchair, and many have adapted toilets, hearing loops, and other facilities to help visitors with disabilities. A list of facilities at each library for people with disabilities is available here. Services and equipmentA wide range of services and equipment is available with some equipment available for loan. Most libraries have audio books, large print books, subtitled videos and audio described videos. Equipment that we can arrange for you to borrow includes magnifiers, bookstands and easy-to-use CD and cassette players. The Resource Centre at the Central library is worth a visit for specialist equipment & support. Reminiscence CollectionReminiscence items are used by staff in locations such as nursing homes
as a trigger to help people share memories. This has the benefit of bringing
pleasure, stimulation and purpose into the lives of older people.
Access Services has a collection of materials which can be lent to individuals or groups. Items include giant crosswords, old photographs, children's games and jigsaws.
