Edinburgh Central Library has a wide variety of resources which you can use to help you research your family’s history.

The only charges we make are for copies of information. You don’t have to make an appointment to use the library. Useful family history resources can be found in the Edinburgh Room, Reference Library and Scottish Library.

We can give you general advice and help, but we can’t undertake lengthy research on your behalf.

Ancestry now available in your local library! Pop in today to use the most comprehensive genealogical information available online. Also access The Scotman Digital Archive  to search every Scotsman published between 1817 and 1950.
