Online version of the accepted authority on the English language. Updated quarterly. (If you are in the library you can log on here)
Oxford Reference Online (Premium)
Contains the full contents of around 175 reference books from Oxford University Press: including maps, illustrations, quotations, bilingual dictionaries and external web links.
You can access the subscriber-only contents of other web sites, such as Which?, 192.com and Funderfinder from the computers in the Reference Library. The Scotsman Digital Archive is available in the Edinburgh Room.
Screenonline from the British Film Institute
Screenonline is an online encyclopaedia of British film and television featuring hundreds of hours of film and television clips from the vast collections of the BFI’s National Archive. Anyone can log on to Screenonline, but access to the clips is not possible through your home PC. So visit your local library and make the most of this amazing resource!
