The Cultural Partnership is a high level collective voice for the arts and oversees the implementation of the City's Cultural Policy and related artform strategies. It also plays a significant role in Edinburgh's community planning network, linking with the Edinburgh Partnership and working with the City's Sport Partnership as well as other high level strategic bodies.
The City's Cultural Partnership was established in 2002 as recommended in the Cultural Policy Towards the New Enlightenment. The Partnership has been recently reviewed in 2009 and the Cultural Policy will be refreshed in 2010/11.
As a result of the Partnership review, members have committed to the following revised key aims and objectives by signing a memorandum of understanding on behalf of their organisations. These will remain at the heart of discussions and agenda planning.
Key Aims:
- Increase the profile and importance of culture in the city, nationally and internationally
- Increase cross-sectoral work which reduces barriers to attendance and participation in arts, sports and physical activity
- Increase engagement with a wide range of organisations and communities of interest and place; to assist with meeting the city's objectives and improving access to services
- Increase the collective knowledge base of the cultural sector and more active involvement in appropriate new initiatves that emerge.

- Influencing Change -to increase the cultural contribution to helping achieve the city's objectives
- Increasing Participation - to drive and fulfil the ASC Edinburgh Pledge project, building an evidence base to demonstrate the impact of the cultural sector

- Community Planning - to forge effective links with the Edinburgh Partnership and community planning networks
- Information Dissemination - to build a stronger communication link between members and with the sector
