About School Crossing Guides
The Council is committed to encouraging children to walk to school, but their safety is our paramount concern. School Crossing Guides, as well as safety initiatives such as Safer Routes to School, are all vital. Parents need to feel confident that their child will be safe. These awards help highlight this commitment.
The awards
The finalists will be chauffer driven to a ceremony at Menzies Belford Hotel on 19 November where Carol Smillie and the Lord Provost, the Rt Hon George Grubb, will announce the winner. The Evening News School Crossing Guide of the Year will win a hotel voucher worth £250, with a chauffeured car to and from the hotel. All runners up will receive shopping vouchers.
