Pests and nuisances

The team provides a comprehensive pest control service to the residents and businesses in Edinburgh. Services include:

• the provision of pest treatments and advice for rodents and insects
• insect identification
• house clearances
• service contracts

Many of the services are offered on a commercial basis including house clearances and bird proofing.

All staff are members of B.P.C.A (British Pest Control Association) and N.P.T.A (National Pest Technician Association)

Dog warden service

This service is provided under the controls of the Pest Control Section based at Mortonhall. This service deals with the capture of stray dogs and organises the appropriate care. Please contact the dog warden on 0131 529 3030

Dog fouling

The Council works to tackle the problem of dog fouling through the Keep Edinburgh Clean campaign. You can also help us by reporting areas where dog fouling is a persistent problem.  Contact the Environmental Wardens team on 0131 529 3030 or by e-mailing Environmental Wardens.

Service standards

Our Service Standards (below) are currently open for consultation, if you wish to comment please take part in our survey

• We will respond to rats, fleas and other biting insects within 2 working days of receipt.
• We will respond to mice and other pests within 5 working days of receipt.

Our performance for 2009/10 standards we achieved an overall figure of 100% against our target of 95%.
