Policy and Strategy Committee
- To advise the Council on its strategic objectives and core values.
- To determine corporate policies to achieve strategic objectives.
- To approve corporate strategies, programmes and projects and work with other committees, officers and partners to implement them.
- To develop community planning and direct the Council’s partnership action with other agencies.
- To receive and approve local neighbourhood plans prepared by Neighbourhood Partnerships.
- To set corporate standards for service delivery.
- To secure best value across all activities of the Council and determine the Council’s improvement programme.
- To facilitate and encourage public consultation and participation.
- To approve corporate responses to consultation papers issued by government and other authorities.
- To advise the Council on the allocation of resources in the Revenue Budget and the Capital Investment Programme and the setting of the Council Tax.
- To monitor overall performance in the delivery of services and financial performance.
- To determine differences between committees except where the difference involves a decision on an individual planning or licensing application.
- To oversee the development of the Council’s social inclusion and equalities policies.
