Audit CommitteeThe Council has appointed 13 members of the Council to the Audit Committee. Listed below are the remits and membership of the Committee. Audit Committee To ensure systematic appraisal of the Council's control environment and framework of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations and compliance with laws and regulations To promote the development of an appropriate risk management strategy and risk management procedures. To encourage an anti-fraud culture within the Council to ensure highest standards of probity and public accountability. To ensure sound financial procedures are in place for authorising and monitoring expenditure through standing orders and financial regulations. To agree internal audit plans and to ensure internal audit work is properly planned with due regard to risk, materiality and coverage. To oversee in light of the audit plan the performance of the Audit and Review Service provided to the Council. To oversee and review action taken on Internal Audit recommendations. To review all matters relating to external audit, including audit plan, action points and reports, and to monitor implementation of external audit recommendations. To promote, monitor and develop continuous improvement.
