Taxi faresAre calculated using a calibrated meter according to the City of Edinburgh approved fare table (PDF 47kb). A copy of this fare table must be clearly displayed in all taxis and private hire cars (PHCs) with meters. PHCs with a meter may charge less than the approved fare table indicates. For taxi journeys outside of Edinburgh, or with PHCs without a meter, the fare must be negotiated before the journey commences. License enforcementPlease note that the enforcement of licences is the responsibility of the Police who may be contacted on 0131 311 3224.
