Lothian Buses wins UK Bus Company of the Year
Lothian Buses was named as best bus operator of the year at the National Transport Awards on July 14.

The bus company gained the award for recently achieving a customer satisfaction rating of 80% in an independent Mori poll and achieving passenger growth of 40% over the past nine years. The judges also noted that Lothian Buses and the City of Edinburgh Council have introduced state-of-the-art, real-time information systems in the last few years, and that Lothian Buses has  introduced a new luxury service from Edinburgh city centre to the airport, and its bus fleet has an average age of less than five years.

The National Transport Awards, now in their eighth year, recognise excellence across the transport industry in the UK and Ireland and cover all aspects of public transport including awards for local authorities and bus, tram and rail operators.

Why take the bus?
310,000 people use Edinburgh’s buses everyday. Here are some reasons why these Edinburgh residents like to jump on the bus:

"I don’t have a car, I have a bus pass to zoom about the city to go to work and visit friends. I’ve also got the Bus Tracker system on my route so I know if I have enough time to nip into the newsagent to buy a magazine for the journey."

Moira, Newington

“I live in Portobello and use the night bus for getting home after a night out. The night service is great because the buses are on time and nice and warm. It’s a lot cheaper than a taxi too.”

Joy, Portobello
