There are six park and rides operating in and around Edinburgh - Ingliston, Hermiston, Straiton, Sheriffhall, Newcraighall and Ferrytoll.

Why try a park and ride?

Park and ride is a quick and stress-free way to get into the city centre. Park, catch the bus, and sit back and relax!

Ingliston Park and Ride

Ingliston Park and Ride is just off the A8/Airport junction, beside Eastfield Road (the road to the airport).

An express bus service, Lothian No. X48, as well as Lothian No. 35, serve this site. The route runs to city centre at least every 10 minutes at peak times, with 20-minute service in the evenings and at weekends.

Parking is free. Overnight parking is not allowed.

Hermiston Park and Ride

Access Hermiston Park and Ride from the A71, just west of the A720 City Bypass junction.

Lothian Buses No. 25 serves Hermiston, running to city centre every 10 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday, with 30-minute service evenings and weekends. At peak times a new express service, the X25, will also run. Lothian No. 34 will also run from Hermiston, routing through Fountainbridge and Tollcross on the way to the city centre.

Hermiston is also served by a night bus, the N25, with hourly service from 12.15am to 04.15am.

Parking is free.

Newcraighall Park and Ride

Newcraighall Park Ride is on the eastern outskirts of Edinburgh, just off the A1 and accessed via Newcraighall Road. Follow the signs from the A720 City Bypass.

It’s linked to rail service to Waverley, Haymarket and Edinburgh Park. Trains take just 11 minutes to reach city centre and run about every half hour.

First ScotRail operates this Park Ride site and charges 50p for 24 hours of parking.

Ferrytoll Park and Ride

Ferrytoll Park Ride is just north of the Forth Road Bridge in Fife.

It is connected by bus to Edinburgh city centre, Edinburgh Park, Heriot-Watt, the Royal Infirmary, Livingston, and Ocean Terminal.
It is a joint venture of Fife Council and Stagecoach. See Ferrytoll Park and Ride for more information.

Sheriffhall Park and Ride

Sheriffhall Park and Ride opened in early 2008.

Location

The Park and Ride is in Midlothian on the east side of the A7 trunk road between Sheriffhall Roundabout and the village of Danderhall. Motorists may access it from the A7 and A68.

Hours of Service

The park and ride is open 24 hours with no barriers. The terminal building is open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Sunday, but buses will still run.

Bus service from Sheriffhall

Frequent buses link the site to central Edinburgh via the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary - 15 buses an hour during weekday daytime, with less frequent service in the evenings and at weekends.

Straiton Park and Ride

Straiton Park Ride opened 5 October 2008.

There are 600 parking spaces available at the new park and ride, as well as a terminal building staffed by Lothian Buses’ staff with a waiting area, CCTV and toilets.

Parking is free, and there will be high frequency buses at peak times, as well as Saturday and Sunday service. See Lothian Buses' web-site for more information on fares, routes and schedules.

The park and ride is accessed off the A701, just south of its junction with the A720 City Bypass to Penicuik, where new traffic signals have been installed.
