Staying active and involved.

The Council wants to help people to stay as active and involved as they can be. This includes people living in Care Homes. Here are some of the ways it is doing this.

Get up and go is an activities and opportunities programme aimed at people aged 50 years and over, including elders from the black minority ethnic community. It provides details of social, educational, cultural, sport and leisure opportunities that are currently running throughout the city.

"Moose in the Hoose" is one of the projects involved in Get Up and Go. It's aim is to introduce the benefits of computers to those living in care homes and day centres and it is proving to be very popular and successful. Find out more about Moose in the Hoose.

The "Live Well in Later Life" consultation recognised the need to

"ensure that care home residents are able to maintain/develop links to the wider community."

This has been added to the agenda of the Care Home Providers Reference Group (independent sector and public sector providers who meet every two months and consider practice issues).

A Wii Bowling session and other activities in care homes.
