The Community Short Breaks Service

The Short Breaks Team provides Edinburgh-wide, flexible, person centred short breaks services to adults with a learning disability and older people, including older people with dementia. The services provide breaks ranging from a few hours to a few weeks, tailored to meet the needs of the individual and providing respite for family carers.

What we do and how we do it?

• recruit and assist community carers to help support adults from 16 who have a learning disability and older people, including those who have dementia.
• provide individualised short breaks which offer choice and promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
• provide a much needed break for family members
