Criminal justice services

The City of Edinburgh Council’s social work services to the Criminal Justice system are provided through the Health and Social Care Department. These services include:

  • providing reports to Procurators Fiscal to aid decisions about alternatives to prosecution
  • the provision of reports to Courts as an aid to sentencing
  • supervising offenders in the community
  • supervising people leaving prison on licence
  • providing reports to the Parole Board to aid decision making about early release of people from prison
  • supporting victims of crime.
