Council Sets Out Vision for Museums and Galleries
A new 'Museums Hub' and 'Arts Hub' could be developed in Edinburgh if proposals from a museums and galleries review team get the go-ahead.
Plans would see venues extended, buildings refreshed, collections relocated, as well a whole new approach to exhibitions, opening hours and marketing.
A proposed Arts Hub could incorporate a number of the city's publicly-supported, independent contemporary art galleries.
Early discussions with gallery representatives and the Scottish Arts Council indicate significant interest in this idea.

The Proposals
The proposed Museums Hub would include a revamped Museum of Edinburgh extended into Acheson House and a relocated and revitalised Museum of Childhood with its current home being sold to raise funds for the new hubs.
Council officials have been tasked with working up a business plan which will set out costs and timescales to be presented to Councillors at a later meeting.
