The Butchart Bequest
A small display of images from the personal collection of Robert Butchart, Edinburgh City Librarian 1942-53. This collection was donated to the library by his daughter and is representative of his great interest in early pictorial works of the city. This display gives us a glimpse into 19th and early 20th century Edinburgh and includes hand coloured engravings by Maxwell Gillespie.
