Scheme specifics

Community Learning and Development has a long history of working with local people in communities to address health issues. There is a growing recognition, evident through a range of government policy initiatives, that communities themselves need to be involved in planning and influencing services and developing their own solutions to the health issues that affect them. This means that Community Learning and Development has a key role to strengthen and build on the work that is already underway at a local level to improve health and wellbeing.

Accreditation information

Portfolios will be submitted to a small accreditation group. Initially this will comprise of the following:

  • CLD Manager
  • SCLD Worker
  • 2 Health Lead Officers
  • Quality Development Officer
  • Management Committee representative
  • Health promotion officer (NHS/C&F)

This group will meet on a quarterly basis to consider portfolios submitted by centres and to assess whether an award can be made at the appropriate level of accreditation in recognition of their work.
