Keep Edinburgh Clean Awards
The Keep Edinburgh Clean Awards are an accreditation scheme coordinated by the City of Edinburgh Council, to recognise and reward the good work undertaken by businesses and other organisations to make Edinburgh a clean and green city. Businesses have a vital role to play in ensuring Edinburgh is clean and tidy and that residents and visitors have a positive experience of living in or visiting the city. The awards are an integral part of the Keep Edinburgh Clean (KEC) campaign; the well established anti litter programme which has been tackling litter problems across the city since 2001. The aim of the award is to engage local businesses in their community, helping to instill a sense of pride, build a positive connection with the local area and contribute to their Corporate Social Responsibility requirements. Benefits for businesses include; improving their image, experiencing the "feel good factor", basking in the knowledge that they have reduced their environmental and social impact and the financial benefits gained from reducing waste and energy costs. In addition, the awards provide a networking opportunity for like minded businesses, using the forum to share ideas, information and best practice.
