Apply for a Waste Action Grant

WHAT

The City of Edinburgh Council is offering grants of up to £2,500 to community groups for projects that will encourage local residents to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.

WHO

You can apply for a grant if you are part of a:

  • Constituted community group
  • Group of interested residents (to form a constituted Waste Action Group)
  • Not-for-profit community sector organisation (for joint applications with community residents or groups)
  • Youth group (supervised by an affiliated group, organisation or school)

WHEN

There will be a grant application deadline every quarter on the following dates:

  • Friday 6 july 2007
  • Friday 26 October 2007
  • Friday 15 February 2008

Some successful projects include:

Greener_Leith_Volunteer_with_Bag_For_Life

 

“We bought 2,600 reusable shopping bags and, with the help of local businesses, have distributed them in the Leith area, as part of our ‘Shop Local, Shop Smart Campaign’”

 

 

Nearly_New_Sale

“We bought tables and marquees in order to expand our Nearly New Sales for good quality, second-hand maternity and baby items.  We sold over 5,500 items at the last two sales”

 

 

Gardener“We are excited about developing a recycling and composting garden in our church café. We want to encourage business staff and residents in the West End to be more Waste Aware!”
