This year the Council is providing a Christmas tree recycling service for residents who don’t have brown garden waste bins. Details are being sent to the homes of residents receiving this service.
The compost made from your Christmas tree is used to keep Edinburgh’s parks and gardens looking great.
Please place your Christmas tree beside your on-street bins for collections on one of the following days, depending on which neighbourhood you live in:
Please present your tree from 7am on the day of collection.
Not sure what neighbourhood you live in? Check using this map.
Please get your tree ready for collection:
• Remove all decorations
• Cut into pieces if it’s over six foot tall
• Please do not place your tree in plastic bags, as these trees cannot be recycled.
You can also recycle your Christmas tree at any of Edinburgh’s four Community Recycling Centres:
• Braehead – Craigs Road EH12 0AA
• Craigmillar – Old Dalkeith Road EH16 4TB
• Seafield – Fillyside Road EH7 6RD
• Sighthill – Bankhead Avenue EH11 4EA
Residents with brown garden waste bins can cut up their trees and place them in the brown bin. These will be collected on your next scheduled collection day. Check the calendar which you should have been sent for details.
