Rural West Edinburgh Local Plan Alteration - Draft for consultation

On 29 October 2008, the Planning Committee approved the draft Rural West Edinburgh Local Plan Alteration for consultation purposes. The proposed alteration should be read in conjunction with the Rural West Edinburgh Local Plan (adopted June 2006).

The Council is required to bring forward an Alteration to reflect the land use allocations in the West Edinburgh Planning Framework 2008 relating to Edinburgh Airport, Scotland’s National Showground and a new International Business Gateway.

The Local Plan Alteration also identifies housing-led regeneration opportunities in Newbridge and Ratho Station and proposes to change Policy H7 affordable housing, to bring affordable housing requirements in line with the rest of the City. Local Plan Alteration Committee Report

The Alteration is closely linked to the preparation of the West Edinburgh Strategic Design Framework (WESDF) which takes the form of supplementary planning guidance. A draft version of the WESDF was approved for consultation purposes on 2 October 2008.

The RWELP Alteration is subject to strategic environmental assessment and an Interim Environmental Report has been prepared for consultation purposes
