Castle Street

As the first of the capital streets projects to be complete, Castle Street is now the flagship of new urban space which complements both its New Town setting and reputation as a prime retail site.

The Eating Place

In May 2006, the newly created urban space on Castle Street opened for business with the monthly Eating Place, a fine foods market to cater for a range of palates.

The £1.8 million face-lift has given a new lease of life to Castle Street by creating a place for the public to enjoy.  It has also enhanced opportunities for local businesses and brings a village atmosphere to the historic street. 

The launch of The Eating Place brings a new concept in street culture to Castle Street. A place where people meet friends, linger to sample the treats on offer, buy food to take home, and enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants already there.

The market is held on the last Thursday of each month between 4pm and 8pm.
