Food Hygiene Information Scheme

The Food Hygiene Information Scheme allows consumers to see how well food businesses in Edinburgh have fared in food hygiene inspections and aims to improve consumer confidence and maintain high standards of food hygiene.

The Food Hygiene Information Scheme in Scotland is being run in Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen, Fife and Renfrewshire as a 2 year pilot until November 2008. It was developed and implemented by the Food Standards Agency Scotland with the support of consumer organisations, industry and local authorities.

Around 1,000 food businesses within the New Town, Old Town and Tollcross areas of Edinburgh are participating in the pilot, they have been asked to display certificates prominently on the door or window of their premises, showing how well they did in their last hygiene inspection.
