Children and Families

Children and Families provides a wide range services for children, young people and adults. It was formed to bring together services previously provided by Education and some Social Work services. It is responsible for:

• 91 primary schools, 23 secondary schools and 11 special schools
• 31 early years centres (including nurseries and children and family centres)
• 62 community centres
• adult education
• child protection
• childcare
• fostering, adoption and looked after children
• school services
• services for children with disabilities
• youth and justice work
