Publication scheme

All Scottish public authorities such as councils, police and health boards must have a publication scheme, approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner, and must publish information in accordance with that scheme.

A publication scheme must specify:

  • classes of information which the authority publishes or intends to publish
  • the manner in which such information will be published
  • whether the information is available to the public free of charge or on payment.

In addition to the main publication scheme for the Council, there are several other publication schemes which are specific to certain aspects of Council work, for example, the Justice of the Peace Advisory Committee (PDF, 171kB).
