Edinburgh Equalities Network

The Edinburgh Equalities Network is supported by The City of Edinburgh Council and our partners in NHS Lothian, Lothian and Borders Police Service and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

Edinburgh Equalities Network Aims

The Network arrangements will help the public authorities to work in partnership with groups and communities of interest on issues of age, caring role, disability, ethnicity, faith/belief, gender/gender identity, and/or sexual orientation to collect views and information. The Network aims to: 

• give individuals and organisations opportunities to be involved in and influence policy development to tackle inequalities in Edinburgh
• gather information and viewpoints on strategic equalities issues
• promote equality of opportunity, reduce discrimination and harassment and promote positive attitudes towards and across equalities communities of interest
• foster good community relations by sharing information and improve awareness of equalities issues and publicise events.

Who can join the Edinburgh Equalities Network?

Any group, partnership, forum, organisation, agency, company or individual interested in equalities issues can join the Network.

• Equalities Monitoring Form (Word, 91KB)

Completion of the Monitoring Form is optional but is included to enable the collection of information on the diversity of members who join the Network. All the information is kept confidential and separate from members' details. Completed forms can be returned by post or email to the contact address on this page or to anne.elliot@edinburgh.gov.uk. Edinburgh Equalities Network Events

• This event looked at recent local developments for carers in Edinburgh and the carers' strategy "Towards 2010". See the Summary Report (PDF, 175KB) of the event for more information.
• Edinburgh Partnership Single Outcome Agreement Information Session -  December 2009 (PDF, 62.8KB) - this event for Network members included an overview of the Single Outcome Agreement and equalities issues within the SOA and links to the Council's Equalities, Diversity and Human Rights Scheme (EDHR).
• Edinburgh Equalities Network Seminar June 2009 - Executive Summary (PDF, 66.4KB) - this Network seminar in June 2009 gave members an opportunity to discuss experiences of inequality in service areas from across our public sector partner organisations.
