Rent arrears, benefit and debt advice
We can help you if you are a council tenant and you need advice about your benefits or if you are having trouble paying your rent.
A Housing Officer in your local neighbourhood office can give you advice if you are having trouble paying your rent of if you have questions about your rent account.
Contact the Benefit Gathering Service for help to claim Housing and Council tax benefit, estimate how much rent you have to pay until your claim is complete and support you in contacting other housing or benefit services.
Contact the Income Maximisation Service for help to find out if you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to, submit appeals and backdating requests, challenge and appeal overpayment decisions and put you in touch with specialist financial advice services.
Court action
We can help you if you have been given a notice of proceedings or court date because of rent arrears or debt problems. Contact your neighbourhood office as soon as possible for advice.
