Workforce development is important - it's about getting the right people with the right skills into the right roles.
Our aim is to develop a highly skilled and motivated workforce to deliver a high quality Early Years Service.
Registration
The Scottish Government has introduced required registration for all workers in day care of children services with Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) or another relevant body (eg GTCS) as governed by SSSC.
To register a worker must satisfy the criteria for registration. This includes holding the appropriate qualifications for the job they do and being able to evidence good character.
Applicants for registration who do not hold the required qualifications may, if they meet all the other eligibility criteria for registration (evidence of 'good character'), be granted registration subject to the condition that they achieve the required qualifications within a specified period which will normally be three years when they apply for re-registration.
