City of Edinburgh Council

Council Wards

Council Ward Boundaries

There are 17 Wards in Edinburgh and they are now multi-member wards. This means there are 3-4 Councillors in each ward. Although some wards will elect three councillors and others four, the number of electorate served is taken into account and the ratio of electors to councillors will remain broadly the same for each ward.

The wards have been re-designed by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland. The new wards have retained, where possible, natural community boundaries and local ties. A significant factor in achieving this was the decision to use existing community council boundaries as a base.

Polling place maps for the Local Government Elections 2012 are also available.
