Director of Health and Social Care

Educated at Durham University, Peter spent his first 13 years in the West Midlands Region working for four different health boards in a variety of healthcare settings, mainly in the Acute Sector but also in Mental Health Services.

Peter moved to Scotland in 1998 as Chief Executive of East & Midlothian NHS Trust before being appointed  Chief Executive of West Lothian Healthcare Trust in 1999. He joined the Council as Director of Health and Social Care in April 2005. His position is unique among the Council's directors in that he is jointly employed by NHS Lothian.

He holds an MBA from Warwick University.
