The City of Edinburgh Council is responsible for the management of 40 cemeteries and churchyards.
Within our cemeteries, you will find:
- Burial plots for young babies, within Mortonhall cemetery
- Woodland burial site, within Corstorphine Hill cemetery
- Present Muslim burial site, within Portobello cemetery
- Area for the scattering of ashes for Hindus and Sikhs, located on the River Almond
- A number of Edinburgh's historic burial grounds, including Calton burial grounds and Canongate and Greyfriars Kirkyards.
- Cremated remains plots, available in Grange, Portobello, Corstorphine Hill, Currie and Liberton cemeteries
Craigmillar Castle Park Cemetery
Craigmillar Castle Park Cemetery is our new principal cemetery, as ground at Mortonhall has now been exhausted. The cemetery is located at Bridgend Farm, Old Dalkeith Road , covering approximately 15 acres and providing over 5000 new graves.
