If you're looking to buy a home but you're not quite ready financially, there are sometimes other options available.

Mid Market Rent

Mid Market Rent (MMR) is a rent level that is between social and private rent levels in the city. Mid Market Rent properties could be an option for people looking to save money for a deposit to buy a home.

There are just over 200 Mid Market Rent homes in Edinburgh.  Most midmarket homes are managed by housing associations. You can find a list of available homes at  EH-Key to Choice.

Mid Market homes will also be provided through the Council 21st Century Homes projects.

Discounted Sale

Discounted Sale is an option for first time buyers in Edinburgh though they are hardly available. Discounted Sale properties are available when a private developer sells homes at a price based on the average income of a person or household in Edinburgh and the mortgage that the buyer can get. Golden Share Discounted Sale is when a private developer sells homes to people for less than the market price. The same rules apply when the homes are sold again, meaning the properities remain affordable to future buyers.
