Council tax is a local charge on all households and pays for local services. The tax is set by the City of Edinburgh Council to fund local services such as schools, libraries, leisure facilities and refuse collection. You can find out more in Edinburgh's Council tax spending 2013/14.
Council tax will not increase in 2013/14. This is equal to £1,169 for a band D property.
Scottish Water's household water and water waste (sewerage) charges are, however, increasing and you will see this increased charge on your Council Tax bill. This is because we collect these charges on behalf of Scottish Water. Find out more about water charges from the Scottish Water helpline on 0845 601 8855 or go to the Scottish Water website.
|Band||Property value||Council tax||Water charges||Sewerage charges|

|C||£35,001 to £45,000||£1,039.11||£166.40||£193.12|

|G||£106,001 to £212,000||£1,948.33||£312.00||£362.10|
How much you pay depends on which band your house is in. Each band is calculated as a proportion of band D. These proportions are decided by Central Government.
