Council tax banding and charges

Council tax charges 2012/13

Council tax is a local charge on all households and pays for local services. The tax is set by the City of Edinburgh Council to fund local services such as schools, libraries, leisure facilities and refuse collection. You can find out more in Edinburgh's Council tax spending 2012/13.

Council tax will not increase in 2012/13. This is equal to £1,169 for a band D property. Also, Scottish Water's household water and water waste (sewerage) charges will not increase. These charges are separate from the Council tax charges below.

However we do collect these charges on Scottish Water's behalf and will be shown on your bill. For further information on these charges, please call the Scottish Water helpline on 0845 601 8855 or go to Scottish Water to visit their website.
