A payment card:
- is a white plastic wallet sized card
- is issued separately to your Council tax demand notice
- has your name and Council tax account number printed on the front
- will last several years, so don't throw it away at the end of the financial year.
You can use a payment card to pay Council tax at a Council office or Post Office and there is no limit to the amount you can pay.
You cannot use a payment card at a bank or building society.
PayPoint
You can use your payment card at a PayPoint outlet where you can only pay a maximum of £125.00 per transaction for Council tax or Non-domestic (business) rates. If you need to pay more than the allowed limit, the cashier will split the amount and swipe the card for each payment.
You can also pay cash at any PayPoint outlet in the country. Many of the shops and garages which use the PayPoint scheme open late in the evening and on Sundays making it even easier for you to pay. To find out where your nearest PayPoint outlet is visit the allpay.net website.
