Who is eligible for benefits and how can I claim

Council tax benefit

Council tax benefit is a scheme that gives help towards your Council tax bill. There are two kinds of Council tax benefit available for people who have to pay Council tax. They are simply ordinary Council tax benefit or Second adult rebate.

These benefits are separate from any discounts and reductions that can also reduce your Council tax bill.

Housing benefit

Housing Benefit is a scheme that helps people on low incomes pay rent for the home they live in. There are two kinds of Housing benefit available for people who have to pay rent. They are Housing benefit for Council and housing association tenants who pay rent to their local Council or housing association or Local housing allowance for private tenants who pay rent to a private landlord.

Claim for your benefit
